Executive Committee (EC)
The Executive Committee (EC) of BIGSAS is responsible for implementing the decisions of principle of the Steering Committee, managing the quality assurance of the doctoral training and administratively running the graduate school. It plays a central role in the operational management and strategic orientation of the graduate school as well as its public relation and network activities.
The Executive Committee meets regularly to ensure that all operational and strategic measures are implemented efficiently.
The meetings usually take place in a two-week interval on Wednesday afternoon. The next meetings of the EC are:

Application documents must be received no later than 12 pm on Wednesday in the week before the meeting.
The main tasks of the Executive Committee include:
Approval of financial applications: The EC decides on the approval of all funding applications up to EUR 2,000.00 as well as on all field work applications. The Steering Committee is responsible for higher amounts. Conferences and Summer Schools with an early upcoming date can be decided by the EC as well (no matter the costs).
Implementation of guidelines: The committee ensures that the policies and strategies set by the Steering Committee are put into practice.
Tasks of the SC, which are delegated to the EC:
- Fieldwork trips
- Conferences and summer/winter schools
- Mentor visits
- Finalisation funding
- Transitional funding
- JF Rep compensation funding
- Printing cost subsidies
- Substitution of required achievements according to the doctoral regulations
- Admission to the doctoral examination procedure
- Appointment of reviewer according to the doctoral regulations
