General Assembly

The BIGSAS General Assembly meets once a year (usually in November/December). The assembly includes all members of BIGSAS, the director of the Gender & Diversity Office (or his or her deputy), as well as the academic coordinator of the Early Career and Equal Opportunity Office and the BIGSAS coordinator both in an advisory capacity. The BIGSAS doctoral researchers can participate in the General Assembly in an advisory capacity as well.

Members of the general assembly elect the four member representatives of the SC, decide on the BIGSAS regulations and discusses reports and other relevant topics.

Members of the General Assembly are obliged to attend its meetings according to the rules in the University of Bayreuth's constitution dated 25 June 2007 (as amended).

The General Assembly is generally responsible for the following tasks:

  • resolutions on the BIGSAS Regulations and the amendment of the BIGSAS Regulations,
  • acceptance and discussion of the dean’s report,
  • the director of the Gender & Diversity Office in the Africa Multiple Cluster of Excellence,
  • acceptance of the report of the representative of the doctoral researchers,
  • receiving other reports as appropriate,
  • the election of the four representatives to the Steering Committee in accordance with § 5 para 5 of the present regulations.
